Dustin Hoffman
In 2021, Wilder’s classic Our Town will see a revival on Broadway; actor Dustin Hoffman takes credit for being the show’s stage manager. Hoffman’s last appearance on Broadway was back in 1989 for his Tony-nominated role as Shylock in The Merchant of Venice. Hoffman has also performed in Death of a Salesman, All Over Town, Jimmy Shine, The Subject Was Roses and A Cook for Mr. General.
As an actor, Dustin Hoffman takes recognition for taking up roles of antiheroes or emotionally wounded characters. As opposed to his contemporary actors’ sharp-looking, chiseled features, Hoffman paved the way to recognize average-looking yet emotionally explosive leading actors. In the 1970s, Hoffman was best known for starring in Little Big Man, Straw Dogs, Lenny, and Straight Time. His success came in 1979 for his role in Kramer vs. Kramer, where he secured the best actor award.
