Mae West

Mary Jane West, better known as Mae West, was an American stage and film actress, widely known for her sensual hit movies Belle of the Nineties and I’m No Angel. The Brooklyn-born actress had her first stint in fame as a Broadway singer and acrobatic dancer in the revue, A la Broadway, during 1911. Her big break occurred when in 1926, when she put in time and effort to write and produce a series of plays, which she mostly starred in.

The actress, due to her work and beauty, enjoyed a high degree of popularity, often entering a relationship with fellow co-stars. However, it was not until her 1950s Las Vegas act where West would meet the love of her life, Paul Novak. Novak was a muscle stud whom West had previously hired to act as extras in her 1950s Las Vegas act, where the couple shortly fell in love. Although they didn’t marry, they would enjoy a relationship that lasted 30 years, way past the now-average length of marriage in America, 8.2 years.
